In 300 characters or less Inside.com looks to inform its users with real-time updates on the biggest news stories. As Director of Product from June to October of 2013 my main focus was developing interface and branding. My duties included developing brand development, user experience and user interface design for web and mobile. I managed Pivotal for QA testing and was instrumental at ensuring quality in development.
Ruby on Rails was the main technology used for the web interface, and gave contractors remote access to the system in order to post and edit updates. Part of the challenge I was able to solve was defining the aspect ratios for story images to ensure a consistent look and feel across different form factors.
Inside allowed users to rate and order their stories by importance, giving a robust set of features for users to customize their news curation with. Updates are displayed within verticals, and within those verticals the user has an opportunity to rate updates by importance and save their favorite stories.
